Deep beneath the Dordogne, music will fill one of the Périgord Noir's most extraordinary natural spaces.
◆
On Wednesday 5 August 2026, singer Lily Jung performs at the Gouffre de Proumeyssac as part of Patrimoine en Musique.
◆
Known as the Cathedral of Crystal, Proumeyssac provides an extraordinary setting for live music. In the vast underground chamber, surrounded by stalactites and shimmering mineral formations, the voice takes on an entirely different dimension.
◆
This is more than a concert. It is music, heritage and one of the Dordogne's most remarkable landscapes brought together for a single evening.

MUSIC BENEATH THE EARTH
──────── ◆ ────────
Imagine descending into the cool darkness of the cavern as the sounds of the outside world disappear.
Then, beneath the immense crystal formations of Proumeyssac, a voice begins to fill the chamber.
The natural acoustics, the extraordinary setting and the intimacy of the underground space promise an experience unlike a traditional concert hall.
For one evening, the Cathedral of Crystal becomes a cathedral of music.

WHY WE THINK THIS IS SPECIAL
──────── ◆ ────────
The Dordogne is famous for its caves, its history and its remarkable landscapes.
But experiencing live music deep beneath the ground offers an entirely different way to discover the region.
If you're visiting the Dordogne in August, this is one evening worth remembering.

STAY A LITTLE LONGER
──────── ◆ ────────
DISCOVER BELVÈS
Just 21 minutes from the Gouffre de Proumeyssac, another side of the Dordogne is waiting.
High above the Nauze Valley, the medieval village of Belvès has watched over the Périgord Noir for centuries.
Step inside the ancient castrum, wander beneath seven bell towers and follow narrow streets between golden stone houses.
Then find a table, order a glass of wine and stay a little longer.
Belvès is only 21 minutes away.
But you may not want to leave.
